Laura has many years of legal experience and was called to the Bar in 2010. After qualifying as a Barrister, Laura cross-qualified to become a Solicitor in 2012.
Laura is a passionate advocate and has used her advocacy and negotiation skills on behalf of many clients over the years.
A significant part of Laura’s work relates to Care Proceedings and Laura specialises in representing parents and extended family members where social services are involved with families. Further, Laura advises grandparents who are seeking to have contact with their grandchild or are thinking of taking on the care of their grandchild.
Laura also undertakes work surrounding Children Act matters such as contact and residence disputes, and domestic abuse matters. Laura also has experience in dealing with matters with an international element, such as removal of a child from the jurisdiction and issues surrounding forced marriage.
Laura is a member of Resolution and promotes a practical and down to earth approach to family law matters. Laura is a member of the Resolution Committee and the Huddersfield Law Society Committee.
Laura enjoys walking in the Yorkshire countryside and also enjoys socialising with friends and family, and particularly enjoys travel to unusual places. Laura has competed in cross country races at a national level and enjoys fundraising for worthy causes. Laura helped fund raise for a ‘Search for Santa’ trip where children were taken to Lapland to look for Father Christmas. Laura is currently learning to speak Russian.
