University Of Huddersfield
Legal Clinic

Ridley & Hall is proud of its connections with the University of Huddersfield. As well as being Partners in Law, we have supported the University in its creation of the Legal Clinic, which gives legal advice to members of the public. The advice is provided by the University’s law students under the supervision of experienced members of staff. We have provided training to students on client care and complaints handling. We also provide mentoring to students and we have a successful partnership whereby we offer work placements.

Investing In The Future Of Law

Here at Ridley & Hall we feel it is important to invest in the future solicitors we have making their way through university. This is why we offer internship spaces wherever possible to allow for them to have an insight into a legal office working environment. By doing so we hope to help them gain the necessary experience they need to progress confidently in a career within the law.

Pro Bono Law Awards 2014

The Pro Bono Law Awards were held at the Royal College of Surgeons on the evening of Wednesday 11th June. The University of Huddersfield were attending as shortlisted nominees for the Best Partnership award for its pro bono legal clinic. Ridley & Hall’s Adam Fletcher was invited as guest of honour through the firm’s strong links with the university and its law clinic. Unfortunately, the University of Huddersfield was just pipped to the post by the Norfolk Community Law Centre and the University of East Anglia.

However, with all the magic circle firms and major international firms present the University was pleased to be able to fly the flag for Huddersfield. It is incredible to think that the clinic has only been open for less than 8 months and have already come runners up in two major national awards. The name and reputation of the Legal Advice Clinic and the pro bono work being undertaken in Huddersfield, Kirklees and beyond is spreading and this is down to all the hard work of the students, tutors and the Partners in Law, of whom Ridley & Hall are proud to be a part.
