Moving on up

Laura has recently qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer, studying in her own time and completing her coursework and exams with flying colours whilst working as Personal Assistant to Alison Mason, Partner and Head of Residential Conveyancing for the last three years.

However, Laura’s background is far from the property market she is now involved in.  Before, and after achieving a degree in Business Management, her desire was to travel the world.  Laura travelled to places such as South-East Asia, Australia and New Zealand where she experienced many different cultures and cities.  After adapting to the laid back life of the islands in Thailand and Bali, she very quickly fell in love with the Australian lifestyle where she worked in a number of bars and restaurants, but unfortunately working visas don’t last forever.

Laura Sheriff – Licensed Conveyancer

Laura joined Ridley & Hall in late 2013 as an administrator in the Public Law department and took an instant like and understanding to the law, despite having never worked in the legal sector before. She moved into the Property team in 2014 after the opportunity for a role of secretary became available. Laura knew that this was her vocation and decided to follow in Alison’s footsteps and undertake the Council for Licensed Conveyancers course.

Ridley & Hall supported Laura all the way through her training by allowing her study time and discussion time with fee earners in any areas of uncertainty. Ridley & Hall encouraged and helped Laura progress during the time of her training, being a very proactive firm in developing staff members and investing in people.

Now qualified, Laura works alongside Alison on their joint caseload providing clients with exceptional client care and efficiency. Together they specialise in all aspects of residential conveyancing including sales, purchases, remortgages, transfer of equity, declaration of trusts, equity release and right to buy of council houses. They also offer any information and advice which may be required to the elderly when they are considering transferring their main residence to family members.

Outside of work, aside to travelling, Laura enjoys socialising with friends, keeping fit and a good jigsaw, all of which provide a welcome distraction from the renovation of her new house!  You may also have come across Laura as Laura Proctor, however, we are pleased to announce that she has recently got married and now goes by the name of Laura Sheriff.
