Invest in your future
Learning and Development
At Ridley & Hall, we believe great careers are built through continuous learning. From day one, you'll have access to a wide range of development opportunities designed to help you grow professionally and personally.
Whether you're taking your first steps in the legal profession or looking to progress into a leadership role, we provide structured training, mentoring, knowledge-sharing and ongoing support to help you achieve your goals. Our commitment to learning reflects our values of support, growth and respect, ensuring every member of our team has the opportunity to develop their skills, build confidence and reach their full potential. Because when our people grow, our firm grows with them.

What is Learning and Development?
Mentoring & Support
Benefit from guidance from experienced colleagues who are invested in your success. Whether you're starting your legal career or stepping into a new role, you'll have access to mentoring, coaching and regular appraisals to help you develop with confidence.
Training & Qualifications
We support continuous professional development through internal training, webinars, workshops and professional qualifications. Our people are encouraged to build their expertise and gain the knowledge they need to progress their careers guided by our dedicated Learning & Development Lead, Kylie.
Knowledge Sharing
Learning is part of our culture. Through team meetings, collaborative projects, specialist updates and firm-wide learning opportunities, you'll be able to share ideas, learn from others and stay at the forefront of your field.

Qualifying Work Experience
Qualifying Work Experience is currently only available to internal applicants.
They are invited to apply annually. The successful applicants were paralegals already working for us and had gained experience of client work and an understanding of our firm.
Paralegal and Fee Earner Apprenticeship Schemes
We are proud to partner with BPP & ULaw Leeds, CILEX and CLC offering progression to internal candidates to qualify as paralegals, solicitors, chartered legal executives and licensed conveyancers via the various apprenticeship schemes available.

Apprenticeships
We offer apprenticeships across a range of roles at R&H through our close partnerships with local colleges including trainee legal secretaries and administrators. It’s a supportive environment to learn the ropes, build real skills and start a lasting career in law.
Work Experience
We offer a limited number of work experience placements to students from local universities, or those who live locally. We also arrange an annual ‘meet the lawyers’ experience to university students granting insights into the various areas of law we cover as well as what life is like as a lawyer. As most of our work suits those aged 16 and over, we’re unfortunately unable to offer placements to students still in secondary school.

"I’ve found the support I’ve received from the Learning and Development team as a new starter invaluable. I had an induction with Kylie shortly after joining and she has kept in regular contact since. The induction helped me understand how her department could support me in settling into Ridley & Hall, developing in my role as a team leader, and growing the Immigration Department using the tools and resources readily available at our firm. We often don’t prioritise our own learning and development due to the demands of our day-to-day workload, so having a dedicated department that encourages training and professional development is a great way to ensure we maintain our competency as solicitors and expand our skill set."
