Solicitor – Commercial or Civil Litigation (Barnsley Office)

About the role

You will advise clients across a broad range of contentious matters, managing your own caseload while supporting senior colleagues with more complex disputes.

Working closely with an experienced Partner in the Dispute Resolution team, you will provide strategic and practical advice to clients from a variety of sectors, helping them resolve disputes efficiently and effectively.

The role is suitable for a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with up to two years’ post-qualification experience.

Your responsibilities

Your work will include:

• Managing a varied caseload consisting largely of commercial litigation matters
• Advising on contractual disputes
• Handling director, shareholder and partnership disputes
• Advising on debt recovery matters
• Handling professional negligence claims and business torts
• Advising on construction disputes and contentious property matters
• Representing clients throughout litigation, mediation, arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution
• Drafting pleadings, witness statements, correspondence and settlement agreements
• Conducting legal research and providing commercially focused advice
• Developing and maintaining strong client relationships
• Contributing to business development and networking activities
• Collaborating with colleagues across the firm to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients

About you

To be considered for this Commercial and Civil Litigation Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive vacancy, you should:

• Be a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive in England and Wales
• Have experience handling commercial litigation matters
• Possess excellent technical knowledge of civil procedure and dispute resolution
• Demonstrate strong negotiation and analytical skills
• Have an interest in developing your advocacy skills
• Be confident managing a caseload with appropriate supervision
• Have excellent communication and client care skills
• Be commercially aware, proactive and solutions focused
