We Remembered Them… and hope we did them proud

Reading time: 0 min read

In order to commemorate Remembrance Day this year, Ridley & Hall chose to help and support veterans, currently serving members of all the armed services and their families, both nationally and locally. They decided to do this through their own Wills campaign which was devised and run by the Wills and Probate Team, rather than by participating in one of the national Wills schemes that often run around this time of year.

Under the scheme, aptly named “We Will Remember”, £50 from the standard fee was donated to charity from each new Will created between 31 October and 11 November. The scheme, whose chosen charities were the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and SSAFA, fittingly came to an end on Armistice Day.

After the aptly named “We Will Remember” campaign came to an end, the team were happy to report that over £500 had been raised, which would be split equally between these two worthwhile charities.

Hilary Sisson, a legal adviser in the team who initially suggested the idea, said “As I’ve previously served in the Army and Army Cadet Force, as well as being an RAF widow, I was keen to do something to support charities that are close to my heart, at a particularly poignant time of year. There are always lots of Will campaigns taking place, however myself and the rest of the team wanted to do something to benefit other charities that are often overlooked. With Remembrance Day approaching, and with my military background, we could think of no better causes than the Royal British Legion and SSAFA.”

Due to the success of this year’s scheme and the support received for it, the team hope to be able to run the campaign again next year to raise an even higher target.

On Armistice Day itself, the firm held a two-minute silence at 11.00am to remember the fallen, and also commemorated the day in the traditional manner by wearing poppies. To raise further funds, there were also collection boxes for both charities placed in reception throughout the campaign which will also be handed over with the monies raised from the scheme.will-remember-campaign-poppy-photo
