Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a job offer to apply for a UK work visa?
For many work visa routes, such as the Skilled Worker visa, you must have a job offer from a UK employer who is licensed to sponsor workers. However, some visa categories do not require employer sponsorship.
How long does a work visa last?
The length of a work visa depends on the visa category and employment contract. Some visas may be granted for several years and can often be extended if the eligibility requirements continue to be met.
Can my family join me on a work visa?
In many cases, work visa holders can bring dependants, such as their spouse or partner and children, to live with them in the UK, provided certain requirements are met.
Can a work visa lead to settlement in the UK?
Yes. Some work visa routes allow applicants to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (settlement) after a qualifying period of residence, typically five years.
