Solicitors Ridley & Hall in Huddersfield now proudly hang 20 pieces of artwork created by profoundly disabled Hollybank Artists.

The solicitors, whose offices at Queens House on Market Street have recently been extended and refurbished, have had pieces from Hollybank Trust for the last seven years. With their recent refurbishment, Ridley & Hall’s art committee decided it is time for a change and so commissioned the Hollybank Artists to create a range of canvasses and “sound art” which will adorn a range of rooms including the impressive board room, corridors, interview and training rooms.

More pieces will go into the newly created Elderflower Lounge and Family First client area.

Sangeeta Enright, Welfare Benefits Adviser and member of the Ridley & Hall Art Committee, said: “As part of this exciting project, some of our staff visited Hollybank and their art studios. We received a warm welcome and have been excited to choose some wonderful abstract canvasses and sound art for our offices.

“This should brighten up the building and we hope that clients and visitors will find them interesting. We will also display biographies about the artists alongside their pieces to tell the stories behind the artwork. I am sure they will make a big impact.”

Adam Fletcher, Managing Partner at Ridley & Hall, also commented: “It is wonderful to see that the staff art committee has been given so much support from the team at Hollybank. The artwork previously displayed has always attracted attention and been a talking point with visitors so it is great that the extended client facilities recently added at Queens House will also benefit from the creative and eye-catching works by such inspiring individuals.”

The artists and other residents and pupils at Hollybank create sound art using technology in a specially developed room called iMuse. Using just small movements they can choose colours, designs and sound and the resulting spectacular artwork can be printed and framed.

One of the Hollybank artists Gemma said: “We are very pleased our artwork is being used well and all feel proud.” The artists meet in the Hollybank art room every Wednesday morning and are happy to fulfil commissions.
