Huddersfield Lawyers’ tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for Kirkwood Hospice
Seven member of Ridley & Hall together with friends and family made up a group of 26 people who took on the infamous Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Kirkwood Hospice, the firm’s official charity for 2014/15.
The group was guided and supported by Life Changing Challenges. Group leader, Nathan Money, commented, “On the 30th May in good conditions the Ridley & Hall team on behalf of Kirkwood Hospice proudly completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. The group returned victorious after a gruelling 12 hours. Their efforts will raise thousands for the charity, Kirkwood Hospice.”
The challenge involves a 37.5km hike with 1,600m of ascents/descents, negotiating the three highest peaks in Yorkshire, Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. The team set off at 7am from Horton-in-Ribblesdale and completed the challenge in 12 hours. The active bunch at Ridley & Hall, renowned for their 10km and marathon runs, did not anticipate the demands of a steady stroll through the Yorkshire countryside, nor the blisters and associated aches by the end of the challenge! The celebratory drink at the end of the walk was somewhat subdued due to the exertions throughout the day.
Adam Fletcher, Managing Partner, said, “Of all the challenges that I have taken on to date, the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge was certainly the most gruelling I have faced. The team worked fantastically well together and it will be a day to be remembered for a long time. The aches and pains were well worth it in the knowledge that vital funds have been raised for a worthwhile cause.”
Gabrielle Butler, Fundraiser at Kirkwood Hospice, who also took part in the challenge and said “It was an absolute joy to take part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks with Ridley & Hall. Their support during our charity partnership has been outstanding and I would like to thank each and every one of the walkers personally – a great day, with the weather on our side! Their support means that Kirkwood continues to care across Kirklees for those with life-limiting illnesses and their families through our Family Care, Support and Therapy, Community team and our In-patient Unit. We are looking forward to planning the next challenge!”
