The team at Ridley & Hall and Kirklees Dementia Action Alliance are updating their list of all Dementia Friends Champions based in Kirklees. Ridley & Hall works closely with those living with dementia. Adam Fletcher and Helen Webster are already Champions and there are plans for more members of staff to take up this important role.

Dementia – What is the next big step in Kirklees?

We have made great progress and our community in Kirklees is really starting to become aware… but what next?  We are at a crucial point we need to spread the awareness to a larger group of our family, friends, colleagues and anyone else within our community…

To enable us to continue to raise awareness of dementia…

… create better understanding of the condition and how it affects people plus the practical things that can be done to help those living with dementia and their carers across Kirklees…

We are currently updating our register of Kirklees Dementia Friends Champions.  If you are trained as a Dementia Friends Champion and are able to deliver sessions on behalf of the Kirklees Dementia Action Alliance, we would like to hear from you!

The Dementia Friends initiative aims to transform the way the nation thinks, talks and acts about dementia. By delivering Dementia Friends Sessions in your workplace, with family, friends and local community you could help improve the customer experience and everyday life of someone living with dementia.  As more of us do this, we’ll be creating more Dementia Friendly Communities across Kirklees.

Dementia Friends Champions are volunteers who encourage others to make a positive difference to people living with dementia in their community. Could this be you?  We are looking to expand our volunteer Champions network and are looking to hold a one day training session in Kirklees.
