Divorce Fees Set to Rise

Divorce Petition fees are going up from £410 to £550 on Monday 21^st March 2016.

We received notification in or around September of 2015 that court fees would rise before the end of the year. This didn’t happen. I received notification from a colleague on the 17^th March 2016 at about 3.30 p.m. This gave us about an hour to issue all petitions ready for issuing, as the latest date for acceptance of the £410 is 18^th March 2016.

We have notified all of our clients who are going through divorce proceedings and who would be affected. Her Majesty’s Court & Tribunal Service have said that all divorce centres have notified solicitors this week. We were not notified, and solicitors from other local firms confirm they were not notified either. It would appear that this is yet another example of increases to the vickie-medd-hs government revenue being made by stealth.
