Huddersfield solicitor, Sarah Young, Managing Partner of Ridley and Hall, pictured with Senior Partner Nigel Priestley, attended the Royal Horticultural Halls, London for the 2009 Law Society Excellence Awards on Thursday 22nd October.

Sarah Young was one of 5 women solicitors shortlisted in the Association of Women Solicitors (AWS) Legal Business Woman of the year category. The AWS has over18000 members.

She comments “I was surprised and delighted to win the AWS award for Best Woman Solicitor Managing a Small Practice in September. To then find out that, along with the winners of the other categories, I was shortlisted for a further award was an unexpected honour. I can’t express how much it means to feel that your work is valued by your peers – this experience has given me a much needed boost during these difficult financial times.”

The winner of the award was June Venters QC of Venters solicitors in London.

Nigel Priestley, who was himself Highly Commended in the Solicitor of the Year category last year said “it was a great night and a real achievement for Ridley and Hall to be represented at these national awards for the second year running.”
